Pressroom Romance Writers of America (RWA), the professional association for 10,000 published and aspiring romance writers, representing the largest fiction genre and its $1.4 billion industry, will host its 28th Annual National Conference in San Francisco, California, July 30-August 2, 2008. RWA’s annual conference is the major writers’ event of year, bringing together over 2,000 published and aspiring romance writers, publishers, literary agents, and other industry professionals. During the four-day conference, the group will raise money for literacy outreach, offer more than 100 workshops, and honor the year’s best published and unpublished romance fiction at a black-tie Awards Ceremony. Superstars of romance publishing, Nora Roberts and Linda Howard, will be among the hundreds of published authors in attendance, and best-selling authors Victoria Alexander and Connie Brockway will be this year’s conference’s keynote and special-luncheon speakers. Romance fiction generates over $1 billion in sales each year, and with 26.4% of all books sold being romances, romance fiction truly is the most popular fiction around. To inquire about press passes for all conference events, or for more information about the conference, the authors who will be in attendance, or the romance genre, contact the RWA Office at (832) 717-5200, ext. 123 or e-mail to jscott@rwanational.org.
